Canon Nordic Photographer, Norway

What type of photographer are you?

I am a nature and wildlife photographer.

What are your favorite motives?

I really enjoy working with birds and animals. It can be as easy as going down to the local lake working with water birds backlit, to trips at Dovre trying to photograph the artic fox. In the recent years, experiencing nature has become more important to me. Being out in the wild and experiencing what nature has to offer is what drives my photography further.

Which products do you use today?

My primary camera is the Canon 1DX Mark II and the Canon 400/2.8 II lens. This combo never ceases to amaze me. The flexibility in combination with the Canon 1.4x III and the Canon 2x III is something I value highly in my work. I also have the Canon 100-400/4.5-5.6 II and the Canon 70-200/2.8 II. For wide-angel photography I use the Canon 16-35/4 IS. Lately I have been trying out the EOS R as well. I really enjoy working with that camera, as it has so many customizable functions!

Can you tell us about a photo moment which you will never forget?

That’s not an easy task! I have so many great memories from my work as a nature photographer. If I had to choose one, I think that photographing the arctic fox at Dovre National Park in perfect snowy conditions is something I will never forget. I love being out in tough and cold conditions, as I believe it gives an extra touch to the images.

Can you give an advice to someone who wants to develop in photography.

Definitely spend as much time out in the wild as possible. Work with projects and get to know your subjects. Understanding the behavior of a specific bird or an animal is crucial to get the best images without disturbing them. That has given me the best development and results. In addition, share your work with other photographers. Don`t be afraid to ask for feedback! Follow photographers that inspire you, and over time try to find a path that suits your photographic vision. And most importantly, have fun!
